I had heard that this was coming out and usually I am at the bookstore the week a new Stephen King book gets published, but I have been out of the reading loop for the past couple of months. I was pleasantly surprised when my wife Rachel bought it for me on a trip she took with Maude to Maine in early November. As with any good novel, I was completely engulfed after the first 10 pages. At 1074 pages, this is no light read, but i devoured it in just over a week!

Basically, a small town in Maine called Chester’s Mill is suddenly cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible dome. One of my favorite parts of this book is in the beginning when the dome appears and the damage it causes. This is an action packed story with excellent characters and visual imagery.

I have really enjoyed King’s writing over the last 5 years or so. I am a huge fan of his early novels and especially his short stories. The Dark Tower books are by far an all-time favorite. It is crazy to think about the amount of stories and ideas Stephen King has created as well as inspired. After all these years and stories his ideas are still fresh and he  continues to frighten as well as  inspire future generations of horror readers.

    Dear Reviewer,
I have only just begun to enter the story of Chester’s Mill. I must agree with you in that King wastes no time getting directly to the action with this one. I am impressed and I cannot wait to find out what plans King has in store for the wonderfully deveoped characters in this novel. So far, so good.
I enjoyed reading your review. Thank you for your thoughts!
